ISTE 2019 was incredible—and we got to share it with over 1,000 of you!
Our booth was all about celebrating your impact on student success. We asked you to share your stories, and you delivered with inspirational #PowerOfYou photos shared in our booth and across social media. Your impact on this event was simply amazing.
Visitors to our booth saw PowerSchool products in action and enjoyed live presentations—but most importantly they were the first to explore our new Student Success Formula.
The formula shows how student engagement plus teacher development and actionable insights equals student success. And PowerSchool is the only partner unifying edtech to make it possible.
Student Success Formula unveiled
ISTE 2019 attendees got a first look at our Student Success Formula.
It’s about helping districts move from reaction to timely intervention using data that tells the whole story.
The key ingredient is connected data unified by our edtech solutions.
- Student Engagement—improve student learning with our award-winning SIS, classroom management tools, and real-time views of student performance.
- Teacher Development—use student performance data to tailor personalized teacher development, helping them grow and maximize classroom results.
- Actionable Insights—drive better decision making at every level with 360° insights. Everybody gets the information they need to improve student outcomes across schools and districts.
Professional portraits and #PowerOfYou
Stories of PowerSchool customer successes covered the walls of our booth’s professional portrait zone. Screens featured rotating slides of our customers’ smiling faces and stories in their own words. We boosted the impact of the displays by adding new faces and heartfelt words of inspiration to the slideshow throughout the event.
K-12 educators deserve the spotlight. As they shared powerful stories and gratitude for those who inspired them along the way, the energy within our booth quickly bubbled over and spread to social media. Powerful images of educators holding whiteboards with #PowerOfYou stories and gratitude reached far beyond the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Our goal was to celebrate the teachers, faculty, and staff who commit themselves to student achievement every day. In return, the inspiration we received was truly humbling.
A full lineup of live, in-booth sessions
Powerful voices took center stage with a full lineup of speakers, panel discussions, and demos.
K-12 thought leaders and PowerSchool customers shared their expertise on topics from student performance and assessment building to professional development, district management, and cybersecurity.
On Monday, we learned how PowerSchool Performance Matters gives Hilliard City Schools teachers the data insights they need to inform classroom instruction. With individual student data and classroom trends at their fingertips, they easily make sense of the numbers without complicated spreadsheets. Rich Boettner, Chief Technology Officer at Hilliard City Schools, said, “It takes the burden of data organization off teachers and administrators.”
With easy access to organized data, Hilliard City Schools teachers use it as a tool to drive parental engagement. Molly Walker, Director of Social Emotional Learning at Hilliard City Schools, said, “Our teachers use the data in parent teacher conferences.”
Tuesday’s Tech Leader Panel was another popular session. Moderator Keith Krueger, CEO of the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), led the panel through a range of edtech topics and fielded questions from the audience about cyber security concerns, an issue attendees and panelists agreed keeps them up at night.
We closed the event strong Wednesday afternoon with Powering the Hour of Code™ presented by our own Steve Ianuzzi. He laid out the ways PowerSchool contributes time and resources to the exciting work of Code.org to make computer science a foundational part of students’ learning.
Over 1 million teachers drive the success of Code.org, and the organization’s Hour of Code campaign already engages 15% of students worldwide.
Parents overwhelmingly want their children to learn computer science. Ianuzzi said, “90% of parents want their child to study computer science, but only 35% of high schools teach it.”
PowerSchool aims to help close that gap with staff support, Single Sign-On (SSO) integration, and easy access to free Code.org courses from PowerSchool SIS.
